Technology | Overview of the detection process

The sampling of suspected substances is performed by means of collecting onto a collection pad, which is then subsequently analysed in the BIOSENS®. Figure 3 shows the principle and the outline of the BIOSENS®.

After the sample is obtained, the collection pad is inserted into the BIOSENS®, which then transfers the collection pad into a thermal desorbing unit. The collection pad is heated and the volatile substances are transferred to a cold spot in the desorption unit. The cold spot is subsequently extracted with a very small volume of buffer solution to produce an analyte, which is injected into the sensitive BioCell®.

The presence of a specific substance is detected by measuring an increase of the frequency due to antibody loss from the specific BioCell®.
