Biosensor signs breakthrough agreement with Swedish prison and probation service

Biosensor has received an order for six BIOSENS® systems for detection of narcotics in perspiration and saliva. The order refers to rental of equipment to be used at six different institutions in Sweden. The order was received in competition with an established supplier of saliva tests and constitutes proof of the interest in testing Biosensor’s new technology ahead of existing methods. The order was made possible by a change in legislation enacted in April 2008.

– This is a breakthrough for Biosensor’s world-leading technology an a consequence of the criminal justice system deciding to use our system after extensive tests, says Bengt Hagander, President & CEO of the company. – The fact that the criminal justice system now uses on a large scale provides ample opportunities for confirming the cost advantages, the speed and the simplicity of using BIOSENS® for testing for drug abuse among inmates.

The criminal justice system’s choice of Biosensor’s system provides opportunities for society to gain control of the flows of narcotics at institutions in a faster and more costefficient way, especially when used on a large scale. Biosensor’s technology also has great potential in adjacent applications such by traffic police and in drug dependency care.
