The BIOSENS® system is today being used in several border control applications in different countries. The ultimate selectivity allows the system to be used in dirty environments maintaining its sensitivity with low false alarm rates. Typical such applications is the use for control of containers, trucks and cars. Here, swipes on handles, doors, steering wheels, hatches immediately indicate contamination and presence of drugs for further investigation. In larger storage spaces and on textile the little mobile Drugbuster is of great use. It absorbs molecules on its filter which later, easily is put into the analysis unit.
Another typical application is the screening of post by an easy swipe on the wrapping to collect contamination from the content. Results are obtained within 60 seconds on narcotics or explosives. The same procedure is being used with success on luggage screening at airports and ports.
Not to forget in border control situations is the identification of substance found. In these cases the volumes found are visible which is a challenge for ordinary trace detection equipment. The BIOSENS® system however is easily cleaned out should too much substance be swiped on a filter and put into the system. Cleaning procedures do not exceed 10 minutes after heavy contamination and the system is up and running on trace level again. Our customers are located in Sweden, Australia and Thailand.
